Wooden Barrel Draws Customers
The entrance display that brought us the most success during our first year was the large wooden beer barrel which we placed directly in front of the main entrance. People would pause their walk to view the European-style brewery display, which drew their attention. The couple on their way to brunch stopped to explore the barrel and made their spa appointment for the following weekend.
Our tracking system monitored walk-in customers through a survey about their discovery of our business. The wooden barrel became the talk of the town. The wooden barrel created more interest than any promotional materials or advertising signs because people were drawn to its unique appearance. The display generated multiple customer interactions through social media photo sharing and led to new bookings. A single attention-grabbing visual element can outperform any marketing promotional effort.
Flooring Timeline Boosts Sales
We created a "flooring timeline" display showing the same room design with different flooring options from budget to premium. Each section included price points and lifestyle benefits. Sales increased by 40% because customers could visualize progression and understand value differences. The key was showing complete room vignettes rather than isolated samples - people buy experiences, not just products.
Interactive Display Increases Conversions
One of my favorite window displays was for a seasonal promotion at a retail location. I went for a bold, contrasting color scheme and dynamic lighting to grab the attention of people walking by. I used a clear focal product with signage highlighting a limited-time offer to create urgency and draw attention to the promotion. I made it interactive by adding a QR code that linked to a landing page with more product information and an online purchase option. I measured performance by tracking in-store foot traffic during the campaign and QR code scans, as well as sales of the featured product compared to previous weeks. The combination of visual appeal, urgency, and a seamless path to purchase resulted in a 35% increase in conversions and higher engagement from new and repeat customers.
